Cookie Policy

WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are small text files created by the web server on the user’s device at the moment in which the latter visits a certain website, their purpose being to store and transport information.
These cookies are sent by the web server to the user’s device (usually to the browser) and are stored in order to recognise said device upon each subsequent visit. In fact, upon each subsequent visit, the cookies are resent from the user’s device to the website.
First party and third party cookies
However, cookies can be installed not only by the operator of the website the user visits (first party cookies), but also by a different website that installs them via the first website (third party cookies) and is able to recognise them. This happens because on the website visited there may be elements (images, maps, sounds, links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that are on servers other than the server of the website visited.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Data Protection Authority’s Measure of 08 May 2014, “Identification of the simplified methods for notification and obtaining consent to the use of cookies” (hereinafter, “Measure”), for cookies installed by third parties, the same shall be responsible for the obligations regarding notification and, where the conditions are present, consent; the owner of the website, as the technical intermediary between the third parties and the users, must include the updated links to the notices and the consent forms of third parties within the notice provided.
Technical, analytical and profiling cookies
Depending on the purpose, cookies can be divided into technical cookies and profiling cookies.
Technical cookies are installed for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communication network or as strictly necessary for the supplier of an information society service explicitly requested by the contracting party or the user to perform said service" (see Art. 122, paragraph 1 of Legislative Decree 196/2003, hereinafter, “Privacy Code”).

They are usually used to facilitate efficient browsing between pages, to store users’ preferences, store information on users’ specific configurations, perform authentication of users, etc.
Technical cookies can be divided into browsing cookies, used to record data that is useful for normal browsing and use of the website on the user’s computer (enabling, for example, memory of the preferred size of the page in a list) and functional cookies, which allow the website to remember the choices made by the user in order to optimise its functionalities (for example, functional cookies enable the website to remember a user’s specific settings, such as the country selected and, if set, the permanent access status).
Some of these cookies (so-called essential or strictly necessary) enable functions without which it would be impossible to perform some operations.
Pursuant to the aforementioned Art. 122, paragraph 1, Privacy Code, the use of technical cookies does not require the consent of users, but only requires users to be informed.
Technical cookies include (and, therefore, as specified in the Measure, the consent of users is not required for their installation) so-called analytical cookies if
  1. they are created and used directly by the operator of the first party website (without, therefore, the intervention of third parties) in order to optimise the same to collect aggregated information on the number of users and how they visit the website, or
  2. they are created and made available by third parties and used by the first party site for merely statistical purposes, where instruments are adopted to reduce their identification ability (for example, through hiding significant portions of the IP address) and where their use is subject to contractual restrictions between the first party website operator and third parties, which expressly require the third party to agree to either use them solely to provide the service, to store them separately and not to “enhance them” or not to “match them” with other information available to said third parties.
Profiling cookies are used for tracking the user’s browsing, analysing his behaviour for marketing purposes and creating profiles of his preferences, habits, choices, etc. in order to send advertising messages targeted in relation to his interests and in line with the preferences shown by them during online browsing.
These cookies can be installed on the user’s terminal only if the user has given his consent in the manner stated in the Measure.
Permanent and session cookies
Depending on their duration, cookies are categorised as permanent, that is, they are stored on the user’s device until their expiry, unless the user removes them, or session, that is, they are not stored permanently on the user’s device and they disappear when the browser is closed.

WHICH COOKIES ARE USED BY THIS WEBSITE?
Technical cookies
The website uses technical cookies installed by the website itself to ensure and monitor the functioning of the website, to enable efficient browsing of the same and use of the contents and the services requested by the user.
This type of cookie cannot be disabled and, pursuant to Art. 122 of the Privacy Code and the Measure, the prior consent of users is not required.
Analytical cookies
The Website uses analytical cookies created and made available by third parties (Google Analytics) and used by the website to statistically analyse accesses or visits to the website, enable the owner to improve its structure, navigation and content and collect information on use of the website.
These properly anonymised (by masking significant portions of the IP address) cookies enable the collection of aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the website but they cannot identify the individual user.

Users can nonetheless adjust their cookie options via the settings of the browser used.
